Jason is a Senior Advisor, Principal at Copping Consulting, and a former Cabinet Minister in the Government of Alberta.  He has in-depth experience in the public and private sectors with deep knowledge in health care and transportation.  Trained as a human resource professional, he has a diverse background in marketing and sales, business development, government affairs, consulting and leadership.

 

During his time as an elected official, Jason led the development of strategies to transform the health-care system, improving access to care while managing costs. Major initiatives included the Continuing Care Transformation, Modernizing Alberta’s Primary Care System, the Health Action Plan and the Health Workforce Strategy. He also renewed labour legislation and led the development of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Strategy, passing the Fairness for Newcomers Act and implementing new pathways for newcomers to help address workforce shortages. 

 

Prior to his time in government, as a partner in a consulting firm, Jason worked with clients to deliver strategies that effectively tackled complex issues involving a diverse range of stakeholders and interests.  He also worked nearly 20 years in diverse roles in the transportation sector.

 

 Additionally, Jason has been a sessional instructor in the business schools at the University of Calgary and the University of Lethbridge, teaching courses in Labour Relations, Human Resource Management, Negotiations and Labour & Employment Law.

 

Jason has a passion for cooking and a keen interest in health care.
